School History

Jean (Jah) Lillywhite Soccer Coaching School was established in 1974 with a 13 & under boys team with boys from Newtown, Belmont and Woodbrook areas in Port of Spain, Trinidad. The idea to start this team came from Cleveland Hill, who encouraged me, Jean Lillywhite to organize the children from the area/Newtown for the purpose of preparing a team to participate in the A.M. Querino Youth League, which was just a month away.

I organized the children and trained them to march and I also choreographed the presentation for the opening ceremony (march-pass) of the league. I coached the team in preparation for their games and at games. We placed 1st in the March Pass, 1st in the League, 1st in the Knock-out Tournament and our Queen won the Queen of the March Pass that year, 1974. We won the league again in 1975.

My soccer school participated in our first international tournament in 1982 with our 16 & Under boys team in the Dallas Cup 3, Dallas, Texas U.S.A. We entered other tournaments thereafter, in the U.S.A., Canada, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Guadeloupe, England, Wales, Scotland to name a few.

For over 20 years, players from my school represented Trinidad & Tobago at national level; Russell Latapy, Kelvin Jack, Denzel Theobald all played for Trinidad & Tobago in the FIFA World Cup Finals in Germany, 2006 They were all trained and developed by Jean Lillywhite: Director/Coach.
